Follow the exploits of Max and his edge of the seat adventures in waking up from all illusions. Max’s life becomes a desperate search for enlightenment as he meets the likes of Nisargadatta and Sri Atmananda and Douglas Harding and other (thinly disguised) non-duality teachers out there in his search for freedom—that is—until he meets someone who tells him his search is the biggest delusion of them all.
Hidden in this tale of magick is the exact search most seekers find themselves on, and the same famous teachers currently presenting non-duality. On the one hand this tale is a fast paced romp—on the other—it’s a highly detailed examination of the various takes on illusion, non-duality and the apparent obstacles the seeker seems to face in their search.

Absolutely fantastic book. If you like Magic...if you like spiritual ideals...if you like drama...if you like a great story...if you like are totally into Awakening and Enlightenment - This is definitely the book for you.
Clare has woven a beautiful story incorporating the ideas of Spiritual Awakening and Enlightenment into a magical journey that is like a cross between the Harry Potter series, The Golden Compass, Autobiography of a Yogi, and every spiritual teacher or teaching you've ever known. In fact, many teachers and sages, past or present are characterized in her book with new names. I found it fun just trying to figure out who each new character was or what they represented. And the main characters too are fun, wacky and friendly, yet always digging deep into Truth.
Ultimately, the story is meant to take you beyond ALL teachings, to the ultimate truth that there's nobody home! Thus, the title, 'Read This Faerie Tale & Die' is a 'prophecia' of your final outcome.
Clare has successfully created her own world, not entirely unlike ours, but where magic is the norm, and those who are wise are ever seeking the 'One Magic'. Her vocabulary of this world is a little tricky, but fairly obvious - prophecia, sciencia, religiosus - and in the end, there is a glossary if you need it.
I totally LOVED this book. I'd give it 100 stars if I could
